Car manufacturing in Azerbaijan has developed gradually through assembly partnerships and government-supported industrial diversification. While the country is primarily known for its oil and gas sector, efforts to expand manufacturing have led to the establishment of vehicle assembly operations in recent years. Production activity has appeared in regions such as Neftchala and Hajigabul, where joint ventures assemble vehicles in collaboration with international manufacturers. These facilities typically focus on assembling passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and utility vehicles for domestic use and regional markets. In urban centers such as Baku, the automotive sector also includes dealerships, service centers, and parts suppliers that support the country’s growing vehicle market. Industrial development in the automotive sector is influenced by government investment strategies, workforce training programs, and Azerbaijan’s position as a regional transportation hub between Europe and Asia. Compared to the country’s dominant energy sector, automotive manufacturing remains a smaller but expanding industrial segment. Continued development of assembly facilities and supplier networks may gradually strengthen Azerbaijan’s role within regional vehicle production, particularly as the country seeks to diversify its economy beyond energy exports.
