Cycling in Egypt

Cycling in Egypt exists both as a recreational activity and as an organized competitive sport. While urban traffic and infrastructure can limit widespread road cycling, organized cycling clubs and events operate in cities such as Cairo and Alexandria. The Egyptian Cycling Federation oversees competitive road and track cycling, with national championships and participation in regional African competitions. In recent years, recreational cycling communities and group rides have grown, supported by increased interest in fitness and endurance sports. Although cycling does not yet hold the same national prominence as football, grassroots enthusiasm and regional competition continue to strengthen the sport’s foundation.
