Cycling in Myanmar

Cycling in Myanmar exists primarily as a recreational and developmental sport, with limited international visibility but organized domestic structure. The Myanmar Cycling Federation oversees competitive disciplines including road and track cycling, and the country has participated in regional events such as the Southeast Asian Games. Infrastructure remains modest, with competitive training largely centered in select urban areas where facilities and coaching are available. Recreational cycling is more visible, particularly in cities like Yangon and Mandalay, where bikes are used for both transport and leisure riding. Rural terrain and long road corridors provide natural endurance environments, though structured amateur race calendars are smaller compared to more established cycling nations in the region. Mountain biking and BMX have niche participation but lack extensive facility development. Cycling in Myanmar therefore maintains a functional but limited competitive framework, supported by federation activity and regional participation rather than a large commercial or professional ecosystem.
