Cycling in Oman has developed steadily over the past decade, supported by government-backed sporting initiatives and growing recreational interest. The country hosts organized road cycling events, including internationally recognized races that attract professional teams and regional competitors. Oman’s desert landscapes and coastal highways provide distinctive terrain for endurance riding, while organized cycling clubs in Muscat and other urban areas support amateur participation. Infrastructure remains more event-focused than commuter-based, with cycling primarily centered around sport and recreation rather than daily transportation. Youth development pathways exist through national federation programs, and Oman has fielded riders in regional competitions. While cycling is not among the country’s dominant participation sports, its visibility has increased through event hosting and structured federation activity, giving it a stable and gradually expanding footprint.
