Horse Racing in Benin

Horse racing in Benin does not have a large commercial industry, but horses play a role in cultural and regional traditions. In certain communities, equestrian events and ceremonial horse gatherings reflect heritage practices rather than formal racing circuits. Unlike countries with established racecourses and betting systems, Benin’s horse-related activities are more closely tied to local customs and agricultural life. Organized professional horse racing infrastructure remains limited. While equestrian traditions exist in parts of West Africa, Benin does not currently operate a significant national racing league. Any future growth would likely depend on regional collaboration and private investment.
